Ozzy Osbourne: I don’t like working with Tony Iommi

Gambar
Ozzy Osbourne  says that he doesn't particularly enjoy collaborating with  Tony Iommi  even though he appreciates the  BLACK SABBATH  guitarist on a personal level. "Do I like working with him? Not really. Do I like him as a person? Yeah, I love him as a person,"  Osbourne  told The Times in a new intervew. "But if people was to say to me, 'Was there a leader of  BLACK SABBATH ?' I'd have to say it was  Tony Iommi , because without his guitar riffs, we'd be still sitting in fucking rehearsal with our thumbs up our arses going, 'What do we do now?'" Read More

The Best Blues Rock Bands and Artists

Gambar
Combining bluesy improvs over traditional 12-bar blues, blues rock bands are some of the most important bands in music history. The best blues rock bands are oftentimes - and rightfully so - considered some of the  greatest rock bands  of all time. Blues rock became popular in the UK and U.S. in the 1960s at the onset of the rock explosion and these bands took elements from traditional blues music and amplified it through the use of electric guitars, explosive bass lines and heavy drum beats. Over time, blues rock evolved to include heavy riffs that came to include elements of hard rock as well. That said, blues rock bands are some of the most beloved and the  best blues bands  have a legacy that goes far beyond their best songs. Read More

Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason hopes Roger Waters & David Gilmour will end their 'silly' fighting

Gambar
Pink Floyd  drummer Nick Mason has always occupied a unique space within the band. He has far fewer songwriting credits than any other member of the group, but he’s the only person to play on every single album and the only one that never thought breaking up was a good idea. If he were in charge, they’d still be out there headlining stadiums all over the world like the Rolling Stones. But since he’s not in charge, he’s taking his new project  Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets  on their first American tour next year for an evening of pre-1973 Floyd music. Read More

Doyle Bramhall II, the Guitar Hero Who Doesn't Insist on Guitar

Gambar
Since he strapped on a guitar at age 14,  Doyle Bramhall II  recognizes that he's led a charmed life in the music world. His  drummer father  grew up and performed in bands with  Stevie Ray  and  Jimmie Vaughan , and by the time the younger Bramhall's talents began to show, he began playing with the best. He toured with the  Fabulous Thuderbirds  at 18 and released a handful of solo albums, before transitioning into a role as a producer, sideman and songwriter for much of the 2000s, playing alongside  Roger Waters  (handling the  David Gilmour  parts),  Eric Clapton  and  Sheryl Crow , among many others. Remembering Rory Gallagher: The People’s Guitarist

Gambar
Born in Ballyshannon and raised in Cork, Rory was a self-taught guitarist. His parents didn't own a record player. Like many future musicians growing up in the bland land of the BBC, he received his early blues-rock education by listening to R&B greats on that premiere music school of the airways, Radio Luxembourg. He started touring as a young teen with a cheap guitar, hitting the clubs of Ireland and England - even Hamburg, Germany, where The Beatles cut their teeth. He used the money he made from gigging to make payments on a 1961 Sunburst Fender Stratocaster. He worked that guitar so hard during his marathon performances that the alkaline from his sweat stripped the instrument of its paint. That guitar became his trademark. Read More

Ian Anderson’s Jethro Tull announce 2019 European and US tour dates

Gambar
Jethro Tull, which toured in celebration of their 50th anniversary in 2018, will continue to celebrate the half-century landmark by extending that trek into 2019. Frontman Ian Anderson explained in a statement “We continue to present the 50th Anniversary concerts in many countries and regions not visited in 2018, and also many Tull repertoire shows in Europe. There will be, of course, my usual charitable cathedral and church concerts in December. In the USA – many would argue – 2019 is really the 50th Anniversary for US fans since we first visited in early 1969.” Read More

Jimmy Page and Fender join forces to recreate his famous 1959 Telecaster

Gambar
It’s no secret that Jimmy Page has long had a thing about dragons. He was well known for wearing flashy black and white dragon suits and the ZOSO symbol he used to represent himself on Led Zeppelin  Four  comes straight from the 1972 occult text  Grimoires et Rituels Magiques by Francois Ribadeau Dumas  and, in specific, a chapter titled, “Dragon Rouge – The Secrets of the Scientist Artephius." But perhaps the most interesting tale about Page slaying a dragon is the one about his "Dragon Telecaster," In its most recognizable form, the Dragon was a 1959 Telecaster with a stripped Ash body that Page partially painted over with darts and curls of green, orange, yellow, blue and red in a pattern that formed something of a swirling, psychedelic dragon done in a vaguely Japanese style. The beast’s flaming red horns and green head rest inside the blunt upper horn, green scales run down its neck as it breaks into a colorful abstraction that could include a cracked ...
